STUDENT CONCERT  WITH SPECIAL GUESTS CAMBODIA SINGS AND CHRIST PHILLIPS

Our student concert of 9th July saw students enjoy wonderful music from Khmer and Western traditions.  In addition to our amazing students and teachers, we had the pleasure of listening to two guest performances: our partners, Cambodia Sings, led by Trish sang Lean on Me andArapia; later, Chris Phillips (Australia) sang some beautiful songs to his own very fine guitar accompaniment.  Students (Sina, Reaksa, Mariana, Bunsreang, Patrick, Manamavir, Kimshien and Sak) gave wonderful performances on guitar, piano, violin and vocals, including a wonderful violin trio lead by teacher Pisey.  At the end we were treated to some fantastic Khmer music performed by teacher Sambuborak on dulcimer (khim). Thanks to everyone who took part.

We look forward to seeing you again next month!

STUDENT CONCERT WITH SPECIAL GUESTS, HOT CLUB DE PHNOM PENH

On Friday 5th June, we enjoyed one of our most successful student concerts to date.  Over thirty students took part and we were treated to a broad range of acts, including a violin duo, a vocal quartet, a jazz trio and many wonderful soloists.  We were delighted to be joined by Hot Club de Phnom Penh, an amazing jazz ensemble with Aymen (guitar), Nono (violin) and Sebastian (double bass).  Check out the short clip below for a sample!

Many thanks to them and to everyone who contributed to a memorable evening of music.

PIANO CONCERT AND MASTERCLASS WITH COLE BURGER (USA)

On Tuesday 26th May, renowned pianist, Cole Burger, gave a wonderful performance at MAS.  His programme included modern American piano music as well as works by Bach, Schubert and Chopin.  The following evening, Cole gave a piano masterclass to seven students at MAS.  It was an invaluable lesson for each of our budding pianists, all of whom hope to see Cole back in Cambodia in the future.
